Product Overview
A Static Field Meter (also called an electrostatic fieldmeter or surface voltmeter) is an essential tool for any ESD control program. Unlike resistance testers that require electrical contact, the field meter measures electrostatic field strength and derives surface voltage non-contactingly from a defined distance. This allows measurement on items that cannot be touched — live PCBs, spinning reels, polymer films, glass screens, and operator clothing.
Propack supplies field meters from leading manufacturers, calibrated and supported by our technical team. These instruments are indispensable for locating static-generating processes, verifying ionizer performance and balance, and conducting EPA walk-through surveys to identify hidden static sources.
Key Features
Non-Contact Measurement
No direct contact needed. Measure charged surfaces safely from 25 mm standard distance without risk of discharging the item under test.
Bipolar ±30 kV Range
Measures positive and negative charges up to ±30 kV (at 25 mm). Converts to surface voltage using the built-in distance correction factor.
Ionizer Performance Check
Dedicated ionizer test mode with decay time measurement per ANSI/ESD STM3.1. Verifies both ion balance and decay rate to standard limits.
Target Identification Aid
Built-in LED distance indicator ensures consistent 25 mm measurement distance for accurate, repeatable readings during EPA walk-through surveys.
Min/Max/Hold
MIN/MAX capture records highest and lowest values during scanning. HOLD function freezes display for recording without looking away.
Analog Bar Graph
Real-time analog bargraph alongside digital display. Allows rapid detection of static hot-spots during production line walk-throughs.
